Complex experimental
designs are crucial for most studies of natural systems.
The course covers the fundamentals in the design and analysis
of experiments in ecology and biology.
The course is focused on the understanding and practical
use of the most recent multivariate methods. Ecologists
and biologists will be instructed on how to decide what
kind of analysis is appropriate for a given situation,
and how to interpret their results. No explicit pre-requisites
are needed, but a general familiarity with univariate
statistics is expected.
The course will be held in S. Margherita Lig. (Ge) at
the Dipartimento per lo Studio del Territorio e delle
sue Risorse of the University of Genova (Italy), from
August 30th to September 10th 2004 and will consist of
lectures and practical PC exercises.
All lectures and PC practical training will be given in
English. The participation to the course is mandatory
for the whole period. The course will be limited to 30
students (post-graduates, post-doctorals and researchers).
Applications must arrive (preferably by e-mail) not later
than June 30th 2004, together with CV and a list of publications.
Acceptance will be notified not later than July 15th 2004.
Successful applicants will receive additional information
concerning the course.
The fee for the course is € 1900. It includes tuition,
course material, lodging and a single user licence of
the PRIMER ver 6 package. Details for payment will be
given at a later stage.
